Why ROCKTAPE you ask? I first began using kinesiology tape when I began experiencing shin splints while running a few years back. I’ve been a believer ever since and it is part of the reason I chose to further my education and skills in the use of kinesiology tape.
I recently had another personal triumph with the use of ROCKTAPE and I would like to take this opportunity to share my story with you.
Over the course of Memorial weekend I was lucky enough to take a three-day backpacking trip along the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Our original plan was to hike 32 miles over the course of the three days. Being an avid day hiker I knew that I was prone to blisters and “hot spots” on long treks over uneven terrain. Before starting our journey I remembered an article that I had read in a ROCKTAPE newsletter, about taping to prevent hot spots. I decided that I would give it a try. I am proud to say that from applying the tape I was able to successfully backpack 41 miles over the course of three days without developing any blisters in my usual spots! My backpacking comrade developed a hot spot about four hours into our trip on the first day. After immediately applying ROCKTAPE to his foot at the first sign of his hot spot, he too was able to complete the journey without developing a blister. Blisters can make for a very uncomfortable, miserable journey but we were able to overcome that threat with the help of ROCKTAPE.
